We are UT graduate student workers fighting for a living wage and just working conditions. We demand that every graduate student worker be guaranteed a living wage, free tuition, fully funded year-round physical and mental health care, and access to affordable childcare and housing. Our vision for UT Austin is a university that embodies equity, diversity, academic excellence, and dignity for all of its workers.

Jan 8 2025 - COLAlition General Assembly Announcement
Save the date, folks! On Thursday, January 23rd, Underpaid's COLAlition campaign is hosting a COLA General Assembly for all COLA graduate students. (We'll feed you lunch, too!) At this meeting, you'll have a chance to raise your concerns, break bread with fellow COLA grad students, and get organized.
Enough is enough. A $20k salary in Austin doesn't cut it! The cost of living is a whopping $49,000+. According to Travis County and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development this pay qualifies us as having a "Very Low Income." UT can do better!
The COLAlition demands that all COLA grad student workers get a $10k raise; to defend the humanities and social sciences; no reduction in tenure-track positions; and a comprehensive parent-leave policy for students with families.
🫡We'll see you there🫡

Dec 4 2023 - TAs dismissed for message of support offered to Palestinians
Two social work students at UT were dismissed from their TA positions for providing mental health resources for students affected by the ongoing tragedies in Palestine. This is an act of retaliation, and we call on Steve Hicks School of Social Work Dean Allan Cole to immediately reinstate them.
